The badge for the Marine Battalion my 3:16 players are in.
When trying to come up with a Battalion idea I was trying to come up with a clever name for them. I remembered that the Mad Hatter had numbers on the card stuck in his hat; 10/6. In doing a little research I found that 10 battalions seemed a little high so I flipped the numbers.
The TSS Thunderdome is the ship that Victor Company of the Mad Hatters is based off of. The other ships are the Rockatansky, the Fury Road, the Toecutter and the Interceptor
Done entirely in Photoshop.
I'm also currently working on having some embroidered patches made of this design to give to the players.
I just did it because that's the kind of completest I am. I even worked out the info and Officers for each Platoon and Squad in the company. I just wanted the players to get a little bit of immersion. I'm also in the precess of having this turned into an actual embroidered patch to give to each of the players.
Yup! Working out the name and reputation for other officers really helps my players get into character too.
They think Sergeant's Nookie and Dakka of their rival squads are idiots which encourages them to head into danger without reporting in, to ensure the other squads dont get there first. And they kinda like Lt Chuckles. Which means he will die horribly in a later mission
Yeah, it's great the kind of stuff the Players come up with. They started an inter-company Baseball League. But the day they started it both the PC Corporals were gone, so they determined since only Corporals have Balls & Mitts they had to wait for all of them to get back from training, which was determined by the Corporals to be Zero-G tether-ball Wargames.
And yeah, I'm about to kill of Sgt Foss, their favorite NPC, and Lt "Goose", their favorite Drop-Ship pilot. As well as throw in some interesting hints as to just how non-noble the 3:16 really is. And their Ex-LT who they absolutely loathe has returned as part of a Internal Affairs Morale Division.
Oh, if you wanna see what the patch will actually look like: [link]
A friend of mine who runs a site that makes patches is doing them for me. [link] hafta pimp his site since he's giving me a pretty awesome deal.
Also, I made some weapon-cards if you're interested [link] Just kind of a nice little card to record your upgrades and have a visual.
The weapon cards are funky, although the actual designs look way too small to me. I grew up playing Warhammer 40,000 and if a "cannon" designated weapon isn't at least the size of a sofa, I'm not interrested
(Actually the real reason is that my players would lose them. Its hard enough getting the sheets back safely after a session!)
Internal Affairs? *evil laugh* Oh thank you so much for this delightfully evil idea
yeah, see I've never been a 40k fan(Though I enjoyed the Dark Heresy RPG), so I went more Halo(which I'm also not a fan of, but in my mind Power armor doesn't make sense, due to the fact that I can't imagine some aliens claws being able to get through or have it stay useful after having bullets go through it. So I made the weapons smaller.)
Yeah, I haven't used the Internal Affairs yet, still not sure what to do with it. I have a feeling it's through them that the PCs find out about never getting to go home and stuff. Maybe it's because I'm not that evil... I haven't even had a PC death yet in any of the like 5 groups I've run with. And I haven't run in several months. I really want to though, it's so much fun.
I'm inspired to make a unit badge for my players now!
